Basil Sweet (Genovese)
Basil Sweet (basilicum) is probably the most well known and well-used variety. It is fast-growing, easy to propagate. It has numerous uses in the kitchen.
This variety grows to a height of 12″ – 16″ or 30-40cm. Sowing Time: February Onwards.
How to sow: Sow the seeds from February onwards 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in seed compost. Germination normally takes between 10 days to 2 weeks at 15-18C.
Growing Instructions: Transplant seedlings when they are big enough to handle into 3″ pots, for growing on. You can keep them in pots for the kitchen windowsill or plant them out in the warmer weather.
